MONICA
Hey, there! I'm Monica, the owner of Zig's Woodshed. I am a creator and maker at heart and find joy in the creative process, no matter the medium. From woodworking (of course) to leathercraft to painting to cake decorating to quilting to dancing...I've done it all and love it all!
In 2020, after a decade of woodworking experience, I opened Zig's Woodshed on a whim after being approached about participating in a local art market. I thought, "Why not? I can totally do that!" I've been chopping, cutting, turning, and machining wood ever since. Then, in 2022, I said goodbye to Corporate America for good and turned my side hustle into my main hustle.
What I enjoy most about woodworking is finding solutions to challenges. Whether making a piece to custom specifications, figuring out how to make something new, or figuring out how to move forward after mistakes, the problem solving aspect is the most enjoyable part for me.
I'm so grateful to the many customers I've had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with, as each experience has allowed me to grow as a woodworker. I've found my passion in woodworking and am excited to bring you the highest quality in handmade and hand-finished wooden works of art.
BUT WHO IS ZIG?
AND WHY DOES HE HAVE A WOODSHED?
This is Ziggy
Meet Ziggy - the namesake of Zig's Woodshed - currently serving as the Chief Cuteness Officer. Ziggy is a 14 year old Jack-a-bee (Jack Russell / Beagle Mix) and he loves getting into mischief in and around the shop.
Zig has a woodshed because when going into business in 2020, all the "catch phrases" for woodworking were taken as business names. It was important to that all the social media handles were also available to match our business name so customers could easily find us on any platform. What better way to personalize your business name than naming it after your fur kid? Ziggy was confident it was unlikely Zig's Woodshed was taken as a business name. Turns out - he was right! And Zig's Woodshed was born.
In his spare time, Ziggy likes to show everyone who's boss with his larger than life bark, chase birds in the back yard, and snuggle with his favorite rubber ball.
